Episode 58: Brad Kora
Friday Sep 27, 2019
Friday Sep 27, 2019
Brad Kora.
Drummer, producer, songwriter from Whakatane, New Zealand.
Brad is the founding member, drummer and producer of NZ band, L.A.B.
Also, with his brothers Laughton, Fran and Stu Kora, along with Dan McGruer, formed the powerhouse NZ festival band of the 2000's, KORA.
Brad is also gym owner, teacher and student of BJJ.
During this podcast, we got to talk about the forming LAB, and the band now in its current state, the recording process in detail of their upcoming 3rd album, we talked about his early childhood playing in the family band, and the forming of and story of KORA.
Also, being a drummer, of course we had to geek out on drums, drummers and drumming. And there’s a bunch of other stuff in there as well.
Now, what really struck me about Brad during this interview was his willingness, openess in discussing his musical process, LAB’s process, and he gives away a lot of trade secrets. In a age, in my opinion, where people don’t like to give too much away, this was extremely refreshing.
I hope you enjoy it.
